Americas Got Talent Semifinals: Ep. 23 Review [Spoilers]

On Ep. 23 of America’s Got Talent, ten acts perform, but only five will advance to the finals and the chance to compete for $1 million.
The highlights include Recycled Percussion, whose well defined abs cause Sharon Osbourne to swoon. Drew Stevyns is bound to make it into the finals because to put it quite simply he’s absolutely dreamy, and even David Hasselhoff admits his sound turns him on. Cancer survivor Barbara Padilla blows Piers Morgan away; he can only say ‘wow.’
The pressure gets to some of the performers, and they bomb. Footworkingz performs a dance number to the Power Rangers theme song, and Piers Morgan describes them as going from cool to un-cool, committing career suicide with the performance. Jeffrey Ou manages to miss all the notes on the piano, creating an unrecognizable musical piece. Mario & Jenny puts on a dance/illusion act that is a mess and impossible to define.
‘America’s Got Talent’ earned a 3.2 rating, and was number one overall with 4.2 million viewers
Project Runway Industry Event Challenge: Ep. 4 Review [Spoilers]

Last week on Lifetime’s ‘Project Runway’, the designers endured their first one day challenge to create an eye-catching look for an industry event.
Carol Hannah Whitfield earned high praise from the judges, who described her garment as sophisticated, beautifully executed and a good mixture of edgy, class and sex appeal. Epperson showed he’s a true craftsman, taking a simple silhouette and giving it a new twist. Althea Harper went above and beyond the call of duty and created a 3-piece suit that blew the judges away. She walked away the winner, and guest judge Jennifer Rade wanted to buy her look.
Unfortunately, not all designers earned high marks. Logan Neitzel’s tacky prom look and Qristyl Frazier’s black cocktail dress, which the judges felt looked cheap, made them candidates for elimination. Qristyl got the ax.

Natalie Martinez lets Kevin Campbell win round one of the ‘HOH’ competition, thinking that he will choose her as one of the final two. The second phase of the 3-part ‘HOH’ competition requires Natalie and Jordan Lloyd to organize this season’s heads of household; Jordan wins. Now, he must face off against Kevin in the final leg of the ‘HOH’ challenge. The winner decides who will join them in the final two. Big Brother 11 Veto Block Party: Ep. 27 Review [Spoilers]

Big Brother’s veto competition required housemates to answer 20 trivia questions. Kevin Campbell, motivated by possible eviction, was triumphant in the challenge and used the veto power on himself, which forced Jordan Llyod to take his place in the hot seat.
A little slow on the uptake, Jordan and Michele Noonan finally realized that they were duped by Kevin and Natalie Martinez, who faked the break in their alliance. With no delay, the housemates faced eviction, with Kevin holding the deciding vote. He chose to evict Michele, and trusted that his pact with Natalie would get him to the ‘final two’ – perhaps not the smartest move.
The remaining contestants participated in the first portion of a 3-part head of household competition, which required them to tread a log while holding a key above their heads. After four hours on the rolling log, Kevin emerged victorious.
CBS’ ‘Big Brother 11’ earned a 2.7 rating among adults 18-49, with 8.126 million viewers.

Natalie Martinez tricked both Michele Noonan and Jordan Lloyd into believing she no longer had an alliance with Kevin Campbell. To assure her plan worked, she needed Kevin to agree to let her nominate him for eviction, and she needed to win veto power.
Natalie’s boyfriend visited via Pandora’s Box, and because using the Box has consequences, Natalie didn’t gain veto power. Worried that Kevin would be angry that she bailed on their deal so she could hang with her boyfriend, Natalie lied to him about the Box. Of course, Kevin grew suspicious and questioned their alliance.
During the nomination ceremony, Natalie nominated Michele and Kevin for eviction. She claimed Michele could not be trusted. Does anyone trust Natalie?
CBS’s ‘Big Brother 11’ earned a 1.2 rating among adults 18-49, down sharply from last Sunday, and held on to about 5.33 million viewers throughout the night.

Andy Husbands fails to execute a simple salad, instead creating a soggy mess, which earns a spot alongside Suzanne on the chopping block. No more second chances, Andy is sent home. In a twist, Suzanne is sent to the blue team, where she is not wanted and will have a huge target on her back next service.
‘Hell’s Kitchen’ earned a 3.6 rating among adults 18-49 with 7.607 million viewers.
Big Brother 11 Eviction: Ep. 25 Review [Spoilers]

This week’s head of household challenge was a ‘fact or fiction’ quiz consisting of seven questions each worth one point. The player with the highest number of points won. Natalie was the victor.
Earlier, Jeff told Natalie that both he and Michele would throw the head of household competition, guaranteeing Natalie the win because Kevin, as the current head of household, was ineligible to participate. Natalie would save Jeff by voting for Jordan in the eviction ceremony. Natalie agreed, and voted to send Jeff packing. Jeff and Jordan got one vote each for eviction, leaving Kevin as tiebreaker. He voted against Jeff. As head of household, Natalie gained another week in the Big Brother house and a spot in the final three.
The power to nominate housemates for eviction now rests with Natalie. Will she continue her alliance with Kevin or will strategy lead her to betray him as their days in the Big Brother house tick down?
‘Big Brother 11′ lifted CBS to the top for the night with 8.612 million viewers and a 2.7 rating.
Project Runway Surf Wear Challenge: Ep. 3 Review [Spoilers]

Contestants headed to the beach on episode 3 of ‘Project Runway,’ meeting up with flip flop wearing Tim Gunn to create a fun and fashionable surf wear look. Contestants were paired in teams, and the drama began.
Team leader Qristyl paired with Epperson, who immediately took over and trashed every idea Qristyl offered. Matters got worse when Gunn told contestants to create an avant-garde piece to match their surf wear design.
Team leader Mitchell ditched the entire competition and left the work for his teammate Ra’mon. Frustrated with his behavior and short on time, Ra’mon created a design that garnered him high marks.
The judges questioned Mitchell about his contribution, and he admitted he did nothing, leaving Ra’mon the winner and Mitchell at the bottom with Qristyl, who showed how easily her opinion could be silenced.
Mitchell achieved a first on the show by becoming the only designer on a winning team be eliminated. Not an honorable achievement.
Americas Got Talent Semifinals: Ep. 21, Week 11, Night 1 Review [Spoilers]

Filed under Entertainment, Film & TV
The semifinals kicked off with performances from 10 out of 20 acts in a two hour live event. Only 4 of the 10 performers will move on to the finals for a chance to win $1 million.
It’s not unusual for the most uninspiring acts to receive high praise on ‘America’s Got Talent.’ The Texas Tenors, in full cowboy apparel, sang a harmonized opera version of ‘Unchained Melody,’ – yes it was as bizarre as it sounds – received tremendous accolades from judges Sharon Osbourne, David Hasselhoff, and Piers Morgan. One judge said that he was wrong to tell The Texas Tenors to be less cheesy, and that they were right not to listen to him because they were ‘brilliant.’
An absolute high point in the evening was the comedic performance by widow Grandma Lee, 75, whom Osbourne described as naughty, dirty and irreverent. Grandma Lee was delightful, funny and deserves a spot in the finals.
Acrodunk, Tony Hoard & Rory and The Voices of Glory received praise. Kevin Skinner, a chicken farmer from Kentucky, sang a song that brought tears to Morgan’s eyes. It would be shocking for him to not make it to the finals.
A few performances tanked: Arcadian Broad, Fab Five and Paradizo Dance. Morgan told them they weren’t good enough to compete in the semifinals.
In perhaps the harshest moment in the evening, rivaling Executive Producer Simon Cowell’s brand of mean on ‘American Idol,’ Morgan told Drew Thomas Magic that he ‘hated’ Drew’s act and made a little girl cry.
‘America’s Got Talent’ ruled the evening with a 3.2 rating and 9 million viewers.
Big Brother 11: Pandora’s Box Revealed : Ep. 24 Review [Spoilers]

‘Big Brother 11′ opened with a temptation – Kevin vs Pandora’s box. Kevin decides to cash in on the promised $10,000. But Pandora has a trick up her sleeve, and Kevin finds himself trapped when money rains from the sky onto his housemates. A key is Kevin’s only chance for escape, but not even his friend Natalie is willing to tear herself away from the cash to help him.
Jeff finds the key. But the sting of betrayal is still fresh, so he hides it. When Kevin lies to Natalie about needing the key to keep the cash, it is only then that Natalie enlists Jeff’s help to free Kevin. Good strategy on Kevin’s part. But it’s now painfully obvious that Natalie cannot be trusted.
The ‘power of veto’ challenge required each contestant to view composite photos of two Big Brother housemates. The first to identify all six faces in the shortest amount of time won veto power. Michele won.
Next time on ‘Big Brother 11,’ Kevin has a big decision to make: Should he align with Michele and betray Natalie.
The CBS show had its biggest night so far this season, earning a 2.6 rating, with 8.06 million viewers tuning in.
