BSG Honored, Sackhoff Snubbed at Scream Awards 2009

James-Callis-Katee-Sackhoff-Scream-Awards-2009 Science fiction TV series “Battlestar Galactica” got special attention at Saturday’s taping of Spike TV’s Scream Awards. “BSG,” honored for its high quality contribution to the sci-fi soap genre received a special “Final Farewell.” Actors James Callis, Katee Sackhoff, Tricia Helfer, Edward James Olmos, Tamoh Penikett, Kate Vernon, and Grace Park were on hand to thank fans for obsessing over the critically acclaimed show. The celebration did not last long.

“BSG” fans were disappointed when Megan Fox won Best Science Fiction Actress for her role in “Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen.” Fox was pitted against strong sci-fi/fantasy actresses, including “Battlestar Galactica’s” Katee Sackhoff. But Fox, better known for her sex appeal than for her acting talent, took the prize, indicating that judges were more intrigued by her gluteui than her acting abilities, as Fox’s qualifying or nominated scene featured her gyrating atop a motorcycle.

Ballots were sent out to Spike TV’s “SCREAM 2009” advisory board, consisting of some of the most respected and well-known members of the horror, sci-fi, fantasy and comic book worlds who were responsible for advising on categories and determining nominees in each category. Advisory Board members include Frank Miller, Tim Burton, Wes Craven and Eli Roth. All films, television shows and comic books were deemed eligible for inclusion if they were released between August 9, 2008 and July 15, 2009 and were representative of the genres listed. Winners were determined by online voting open to the public at scream.spike.com.

The two-hour awards show will premiere on Spike TV on Tuesday, October 27 (10:00 PM-Midnight, ET/PT).
