Depp, Richards Rock Scream Awards 2009

Spike TV taped its fourth annual “SCREAM” last night, billed as the first and only global event of its kind to honor the best in sci-fi, fantasy, horror and comic genres. Held at The Greek Theater in Los Angeles, CA, fanboys and girls attended “SCREAM 2009” to celebrate the hottest films, TV shows, comics, actors, creators, icons and pioneers who have influenced and shaped the industry. The show features exclusive world premieres from some of the most anticipated movies, including ‘Alice in Wonderland,” “Twilight: New Moon,” “Shutter Island” and “The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus.”

Johnny Depp, who will star in upcoming fantasy films “Alice in Wonderland and “Parnassus,” kicked off the night by igniting the crowd with his acceptance of a Spike Award for Most Anticipated Fantasy Film (”Alice in Wonderland”). Depp, who was greated by screaming fans, returned to the stage later in the night, to give a heartfelt speech about Scream Rock Immortal Award recipient Keith Richards, who blew off the independent press at the Red Carpet event earlier in the night — apparently he couldn’t be bothered to even stand for pictures, in true rock and roll fashion.

The two-hour awards show will premiere on Spike TV on Tuesday, October 27 (10:00 PM-Midnight, ET/PT).
