House Reps. Graves, Waters, Jackson under Ethics Probe

Sam Graves (R-Mo.) broke the rules when he asked a businessman with financial ties to the congressman’s wife to testify before Congress, and is investigating Rep. Jesse Jackson (D-IL.), who has been tied to the action against former Illinois Gov. Rod Blagojevich, charged with plotting to sell the Senate seat of now President Obama in exchange for campaign contributions or jobs for the ex-governor and his wife.

The House ethics panel is also investigating Rep. Maxine Waters (D-Calif.) after she arranged in 2008 for a meeting between OneUnited Bank executives and Treasury officials. Waters’ husband, Sidney Williams, was a member of the bank’s board until last year, and had investments in the bank worth at least $350,000.The bank received $12 million from the federal government’s Troubled Asset Relief Program.

Butterfield, North Carolina, Kathy Castor, Florida, Peter Welch, Vermont. Committee members on the right include: Jo Bonner,Ranking Republican Member, Alabama, J. Gresham Barrett, South Carolina, Mike Conaway, Texas, Charlie Dent, Pennsylvania, Gregg Harper, Mississippi.
