Fox’s “Dollhouse” Fall Premiere Moved to Friday, September 25th
Science fiction fans will have wait an extra week to see the premiere of Dollhouse this fall. The second season of Joss Whedon’s new TV series will premiere Friday, Sept. 25 (9:00-10:00 PM ET/PT) on FOX. According to the press release, series creator and executive producer Joss Whedon will write and direct the first episode.
In “Dollhouse,” Eliza Dushku stars as Echo, an operative in a well-connected human trafficking ring that takes erases willing victims’ personalities and memories so they can be imprinted with any number of new personas. Confined between missions to a secret facility known as the ‘Dollhouse,’ the operatives (‘Actives’) are hired by the wealthy and powerful to become whomever the client wants or needs them to be.
Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures Comic-Con Panels Announced
Animation greats Hayao Miyazaki and John Lasseter and directors Robert Zemeckis and Tim Burton will take part in their first ever Comic-Con at the San Diego Convention Center July 23-24. The filmmakers will be on hand to help Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures showcase a wide-ranging roster of upcoming films, including 3D juggernauts “Alice in Wonderland”, “Tron” and “A Christmas Carol,” and animated gems “The Princess and the Frog,” “Beauty and the Beast”, “Ponyo” and the “Toy Story” trilogy. Zemeckis, Burton, Miyazaki and Lasseter will take part in industry panels. AG Eric Holder: “Move Past Politics and Ideology to get Smart on Crime”

Attorney General Eric Holder spoke yesterday at the Vera Institute of Justice’s Third Annual Justice Address, an annual meeting featuring a prominent national figure who explores important justice issues of our time. Previous speakers include Nicholas Katzenbach, who served as attorney general under President Lyndon Johnson, and James B. Comey, who was deputy attorney general under President George W. Bush. In his remarks, Attorney General Holder outlined the Department of Justice’s agenda for reducing crime rates and the cost of incarceration, the Department’s main concerns. “To begin with, high rates of incarceration have tremendous social cost,” he said. The Administration seeks to overhaul the criminal justice system by moving past politics and ideology, according to Attorney General Eric Holder.
Chicagoan Indicted in $12 Million Ponzi Scheme
A Downers Grove man, David J. Hernandez , was indicted for fraudulently inducing some 290 victims to invest approximately $12 million through his business, NextStep Financial Services, Inc., and several related companies. Hernandez was charged with four counts of mail fraud in an indictment that was returned late yesterday and announced today by Patrick J. Fitzgerald, United States Attorney for the Northern District of Illinois, and Robert D. Grant, Special Agent-in-Charge of the Chicago Office of the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
